NEW HAMPSHIRE

The Lord is doing some great things in New Hampshire! There are many pockets of prayer going on throughout the state. Here are some of the prayer needs you can pray for us.

Prayer focus for New Hampshire, 2004:

I sense the Lord is telling us it is time to take Jericho. The scripture the Lord laid on my heart for New Hampshire is Joshua 1: 6 – 8 saying, “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

I feel there are three Jericho’s to come down:

  • Famine
  • Morals
  • Motivations

First, the Jericho of Manna:

We are praying that the Lord will release strategies to channel wealth to the churches in New Hampshire. (Recently, New Hampshire was named the 5th wealthiest state in the United States.)

Secondly, the Jericho of Immoral State:

Recently we saw the installation of a perverted lifestyle (the election of a gay bishop) in the church setting. We are praying that the Lord would overthrow this power.

Thirdly, the Jericho of the Apathetic spirit:

There is a sense here in New Hampshire of Christians not wanting to be involved with anyone or anything except what each individual is doing for him or herself. We need to learn to work together in unity for the good of the kingdom.

Specific prayer is needed for:

Pray for the passing of the SB427 Bill, that will introduce a bill to protect the culture of New Hampshire from the mandates of the Massachusetts SJC. If this Bill makes it to the Governor’s office, not the court in Massachusetts, it will decide how New Hampshire defines marriage. Our children need a mother and a father. Our culture needs marriage to be what it has been throughout history—the joining of a man and a woman. Senator Prescott from New Hampshire is introducing a bill to adjust the language in the section of the definition of marriage. The language of the section on marriage needs to state that New Hampshire will recognize only marriage between one man and one woman.

The Bill CACR5 states what authority the State Supreme Court has when rule and law conflict. It states that law will rule. New Hampshire does not have legislative means that goes in and tells the judges that they cannot consider an issue like the U.S. level of government does.

Please pray for good candidates to run in all the districts, but especially for the House. Pray that the percentage of God-fearing legislators grow in the House and the Senate.

Brief History of New Hampshire:
Under an English land grant, Capt. John Smith sent settlers to establish a fishing colony at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, near present-day Rye and Dover, in 1623. Capt. John Mason, who participated in the founding of Portsmouth in 1630, gave New Hampshire its name.
After a 38-year period of union with Massachusetts, New Hampshire was made a separate royal colony in 1679. As leaders in the revolutionary cause, New Hampshire delegates received the honor of being the first to vote for the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It was admitted to the Union June 21, 1788.
Famous New Hampshirites include:
Horace Greeley, a renown politician and founder of the New York Tribune, where space was used as his personal vehicle. Greeley opposed slavery, and during the 1850s, he supported the movement to prevent its extension. He opposed the Mexican War, called for the restriction of slavery in territories gained as a result of that war, and denounced the Kansas-Nebraska Act. Greeley's free-soil sentiments brought him quickly into the Republican Party's camp. He attended the national organization meeting of the party at Pittsburgh in February 1856 where he supported the Republican candidate in the presidential contest of 1856.
Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States, came to office during a period of growing tension between the North and South. A politician of limited ability, Pierce was behind one of the most crucial pieces of legislation in American history. Although he did not author the Kansas-Nebraska Act, he did encourage its passage by Congress.
Daniel Webster, a statesman, lawyer, and orator, who was his era's foremost advocate of American nationalism. Circumstances enabled Webster to become a champion of American nationalism. With the Federalist Party dead, he joined the National Republican party. In 1828, Webster backed the high-tariff bill of that year. Angry Southern leaders condemned the tariff, and South Carolina's John C. Calhoun argued that his state had the right to nullify the law. Replying to South Carolina's Robert Hayne in a Senate debate in 1830, Webster triumphantly defended the Union. His words "Liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable!" won wide acclaim.
Pray that New Hampshirites would see God’s warring purpose for our state and that He is fighting for us. Pray that we would arise as the warriors that He is calling us to be!

Because of Jesus,
Pastor Allen W. Cook
