2005 USSPN COLORADO STATE PRAYER FOCUS

Praise Report- With grateful hearts we praise the Lord for answered prayers in 2004 including the abundance of rain that overcame the drought. I can't list all the answers to prayer but do want to share the following.

October 6, 2004 prayer teams went to all the gateways of Colorado at the same time to secure our borders. Pastor Brian Severin, USSPN Coordinator, took a team to the entrance of Colorado on HWY 85. They felt very strong oppression, particularly in the area of bondage to drugs and immorality. God sent a warring angel to join them appearing high over the border. The next day at church, a lady whose husband (a backslidden Christian) had been hooked on drugs for the past year turned himself in to a DETOX center! They had been praying for him over a year about this demonic stronghold.

On Wednesday, October 20th, the headlines of the Greeley Tribune described a major drug bust. But this was no local operation; in fact it was a highway from Guadalajara, Mexico through Colorado to Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and New York City. It involved the three major suppliers of cocaine to those cities. Greeley was the site of a safe house that had been the drop off point of an estimated $43 million dollars. An investigation including federal, state, and local officials had been ongoing for the past two years, but it wasn't until they prayed that evidence was obtained which enabled arrests to be made!

ENTIRE CITY PAUSES FOR PRAYER AT THE HIGH TIDE OF BUSINESS AS THE SOUL RISES ABOVE SORDID THOUGHTS was the headlines of the Denver Post - January 20, 1905. Excerpts of the article stated, "For two hours at midday all Denver was held in a spell, under the influence of the power, not ourselves, that makes for righteousness. Seldom has such a remarkable sight been witnessed - an entire great city, in the middle of a busy weekday bowing before the throne of Heaven and asking and receiving the blessing of the King of the Universe." This was seventeen days after J. Wilbur Chapman came into Denver inspiring the people to give their attention to God above all other activities. Chapman went to 500 businessmen and encouraged them to close their businesses and come to bow before the Almighty. Even the unknown happened, saloons closed. The Governor of Colorado and Mayor of Denver were among the thousands that attended the Tabor opera house, Coliseum Hall, other theaters and the many churches that opened their doors for prayer. The revival continued for several weeks.

One hundred years later January 20, 2005 a call went out from Barb Becker, USSPN Denver Metro Coordinator, to re-dig this well of revival. Calvary Temple (CT) in the heart of Denver opened their doors for 12 hours of worship, prayer, repentance and declarations. I led the first two hours with two businessmen and a businesswoman. God met us as we began and I believe He had His way all day. Here are some highlights. A man came who was ready to commit suicide. He gave his life to the Lord and was set free. A woman very sick in great pain was convinced by a friend that she had to come to CT was healed as soon as she went through the door. A businessman that took time off to be at CT reported an unexpected major break through in his business the very next day. A pastor said that the whole time he had been in Denver he had not received ministry like he did that day or felt that loved. A tremendous flow of worship from many different teams enthroned King Jesus. Over 100 pastors and churches participated. Several pastors have reported a significant move of God in their churches since January 20th. We are giving God the glory and believe that there has been an increase in the momentum of revival in Denver.

Treasures - Chuck Pierce gave the word in 2004 that Colorado is a treasure in this nation. Chuck went on in his word to say, "Let the treasure of this state be mined properly and brought forth this season. Pray for what has been blocking the mining of the treasure in this state, both old and new, to come forth and the treasure of this state will be seen throughout this land." We took this word seriously and prayed all of last year regarding the treasures and resources of Colorado. We will continue that prayer for these treasures to be unlocked and come into the hands of the righteous.

Colorado's Lost Treasures - February 2005 edition of Colorado Country Life (magazine)
I quote Tom Noel, a Colorado historian, "The deeper you dig into Colorado's history, the more treasures you'll find." And he is not just speaking metaphorically, either. A sidebar or the article reads, "More lost gold and silver mines, buried caches of outlaw loot, and long hidden hordes of Spanish and French treasures exist in Colorado than in any of the remaining United States..."

In Chad Taylor's prophetic word for this year he stated, "MOTHER LODE IN THE ROCKIES. I will unlock the secret treasures in the Rockies. I will anoint the science of excavation and paleontology, revealing an end time surplus of oil. I will give eyes to the blind and they will see My hidden treasures. The Rocky Mountains will cascade with My provisions says the Lord."

An article in the Rocky Mountain newspaper, February 1, 2005 confirming this prophetic word read, Colorado's mines and wells produce mother lode in '04. The $8.74 billion estimate in Colorado's natural gas, coal, oil and mineral production in 2004 was up about 44 percent from the previous year. More than two-thirds of the total value in 2004, or $6 billion, came from natural gas. Colorado is estimated to have produced a record 1.1 trillion cubic feet of gas in 2004. Coal production hit record high in 2004 and there was an increase in gold and molybdenum in 2004 over recent years.

Key Prayer Initiatives for Colorado - Early 2005

Schools & Universities - God wants in the schools. We are renting space in schools for extravagant worship to enthrone Jesus and change the atmosphere. We are meeting with principals, ministries to the youth and church leaders who meet in the schools. We have identified strongholds and strongmen in the school system. We are praying in a prophetic word given several months ago that there is going to be some unseating of Chairs in the universities. At the end of January, Professor Ward Churchill of Colorado University made some very disgraceful and anti-American comments in regard to 911 victims and those serving in our armed forces. Churchill is under review of the Board of Regents. The Governor is making strong recommendations for Churchill's resignation from the faculty. He resigned his Chair of CU’s Ethnic Studies Department but at the time of this writing he is still on faculty.

Rivers - We saw successful results last year in the Arkansas River prayer initiative. We knew before that initiative that the Lord was giving us a prayer mandate for the rivers in Colorado. This year our first river initiative is the Rio Grande, then the Colorado River. We will seek participation in this prayer from all the states that the rivers run through.

Business - We are gathering business people of integrity in Colorado who are kingdom minded stewards in the process of the transference of kingdom wealth. One of our questions is this. Since God has set you in Colorado and prospered you here, what is He asking you to do in Colorado to help see righteous transformation in this state? This initiative is in process and some interesting things are developing out of it.

Government - God is graciously bringing USSPN Coordinators into relationships and influence with government leaders.

Please join us in prayer for Colorado

GENERAL STATE HISTORY
The circular Seal of the State of Colorado is an adaptation of the Territorial Seal, which was adopted by a Joint Resolution of the First Territorial Assembly on November 6, 1861 and approved on March 15, 1877.
The official description of the Seal states that the eye with rays proceeding from the lines of a triangle is the eye of God. The words on it, "Nil Sine Numine," which commonly translated means "Nothing without Providence." Some say the eye is an evil eye with Masonic overtones and providence can mean luck, chance, fate or fortune. Regardless of what the First Assembly of Colorado intended we believe the eye of God is on Colorado and it is under His divine guidance and intervention, other definitions for the word providence.

Petroglyphs and ancient writings in caves and waterways in Southeast Colorado give evidence that some of the first inhabitants in Colorado could go back to the ancient Phoenicians, Baal worshipers. The next inhabitants we do know for sure about were the Anasazi Indians who, four centuries before Columbus lived in multi-story cliff dwellings in canyons in the southwestern corner of Colorado. The first Europeans to venture into Colorado were the Spanish. In 1540-41, Coronado led an expedition north from Mexico in search of the Seven Cities of Cibola where the streets were allegedly paved with gold. Although this exact route is unknown, it is likely Coronado and his party passed through the present-day area of southeastern Colorado. Over the next 250 years, the Spanish made other expeditions into the Colorado area.

In 1800, Spain ceded a vast area, including Colorado, to Napoleon Bonaparte and the French. Three years later, the same parcel of land was sold by Napoleon the United States as the "Louisiana Purchase".

Several Indian tribes roamed Colorado and contributed to the state's history. The most dominant of the nomadic plains tribes were the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Comanche, and Kiowa. The Utes inhabited the state's mountains and remain in Colorado today, having two reservations in the southwestern corner of the state.

The Colorado Gold Rush of 1859 brought an influx of people into the state. With the Gold Rush came a horde of lawlessness to reinforce the iniquitous strongholds in the land. Many of such were under the rule of the god of mammon, greed that led to murder, stealing, and covenant breaking. To further satisfy the flesh houses of prostitution and liquor ruled the night.
The Book of the States , Fourth Edition, by Vincent Wilson, Jr., goes on to add, “The discovery of gold in the 1850s attracted prospectors and settlers, but mining gold and silver has today largely given way to mining uranium and vanadium, which are used in the state’s sever Atomic Energy Commission installations.

Today, historic military posts like Brent’s Fort and Fort Garland, once commanded by Kit Carson, contrast with the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) and the U.S. Air Force Academy, both located near Colorado Springs. Denver, the only mile-high capital and the cultural and business center of the Rocky Mountain region, is the largest city between Texas and California.

Colorado’s dry, attractive climate and magnificent scenery may be enjoyed in over a dozen major ski areas, a number of national monuments and national forests, and two national parks - Mesa Verde and Rocky Mountain.”

The 2003 edition of the Scholastic Atlas of the United States, by David Rubel, states that a culture war of the early twenty-first century is being fought in Colorado (more than in other states) between “old-time, highly conservative, business-oriented Coloradans” and “environmentally conscious liberals, many of whom emigrated from California during the 1970s and 1980s.” It goes on to say, “Lately, however, an influx of well-paid high-tech workers has shifted the political balance again, this time to the more conservative side, especially on such hot topics as the Rocky Mountains and whether they should be mined or protected.” The reason for this, concludes Rubel, is although the Rocky Mountains are still a highly profitable source of natural resources, the state’s economy is no longer highly dependent upon this revenue source.

Let me again remind you of Chuck Pierce’s word over Colorado in 2004:
"Let the treasure of this state be mined properly and brought forth this season. Pray for what has been blocking the mining of the treasure in this state, both old and new, to come forth and the treasure of this state will be seen throughout this land."
